The FUE Method

The Follicular Unit Extraction method (FUE) used at Estepera is a minimally invasive capillary grafting technique in which capillary unit grafts are individually extracted from the patient’s donor area and are transplanted individually into the recipient area. The follicles are extracted using a precision instrument and then positioned in the receiving area. No linear scars and no stitches are needed, so your donor area will be minimally visible in a few days.

Why choose a hair transplant with the FUE technique at Estepera Clinic?

The FUE procedure is performed under the supervision of a doctor from the Estepera team. Our doctors have dedicated their practice exclusively to hair restoration. Our doctors are also highly qualified in carrying out the FUE procedure and the natural placement of follicles where the patient’s hairline is recreated according to the original hair growth model to give them a natural result.

The Benefits of a FUE Procedure at Estepera Clinic:

  • The donor area seems to be mostly normal after a few days without leaving any scars
  • Natural and permanent results
  • Minimally invasive method
  • Simple outpatient procedure
  • Fast healing in which most patients return to work after a few days.

How is the FUE procedure performed at Estepera?

Using a small tool, one millimeter in diameter or smaller, our doctors individually extract the follicular units from the scalp. The tool makes a small circular incision around the follicular unit to isolate the graft. Then, the follicle is extracted directly from the scalp using a tweezer-like instrument, and then prepared for placement on the receiving area. Working with high powered microscopes, these specialized technicians prepare and ensure that follicular grafts remain in optimal condition. Follicular units are organized into groups according to the number of hairs contained in each follicle (in each follicle there are commonly 1 to 4 hairs).

Preparation of the Donor Area:

Typically, the hair of the donor area is cut so that the doctor can view and work optimally on the patient’s scalp, as well as on each follicle.

Positioning of Follicular Units:

Follicular units contain 1-4 hairs each, and the strategic placement of these follicles provides the foundation for recreating natural results. The doctor makes small incisions in the receiving area, maintaining the model of natural growth of the patient’s hair. Follicular grafts are then positioned one by one based on the number of hairs within the follicle. This is the concept of differential density and the artistic difference of Estepera.

The Healing of the Donor Area:

The small incisions made heal completely in a few days. Small openings contract as they heal, which makes the round incision barely identifiable. No points or other closures are required.

Hair growth:

The restored hair grows the same way and as often as the native hair. About three months after the procedure, the new hairs start to grow. After approximately six months, a significant growth of the patient’s hair can be seen. Thus, the patient’s hair will continue to grow naturally.
